Hoshea - An Ephraimite Chief
Near the end of David's reign, the king reorganized the tribes of Israel in preparation for Solomon and the First Temple — and named twelve tribal chiefs to lead them. Hoshea, the son of Azaziah, was the chief over Ephraim, the largest tribe of what would later become the Northern Kingdom. He appears once, by name and lineage, in 1 Chronicles 27:20.
